Each plant in our collection has been grown in our Brooklyn greenhouse and tested in NYC apartments. Plants selected for urban conditions with limited light and dry air.
The Swiss Cheese Plant
This tropical plant is popular in modern interior design. Native to Central American rainforests, the monstera develops its signature split leaves (fenestrations) as it matures - a natural adaptation to allow light through to lower leaves. Suitable for apartment environments.
Bright, indirect light near east or west-facing windows. Tolerates medium light but grows slower and produces smaller leaves.
Water when top 2 inches of soil feel dry to touch. Typically once per week in summer, every 10 days in winter. Leaves will droop slightly when thirsty.
Can produce 1-2 new leaves monthly during growing season (April-September). Reaches 6-8 feet indoors with proper moss pole support.
Moderate. Tolerates occasional missed waterings. Benefits from monthly feeding during spring and summer with diluted liquid fertilizer.
Sansevieria trifasciata
Originally from the rocky, arid regions of West Africa, snake plants can survive drought and low light conditions. Their thick, sword-like leaves store water for weeks, making them resilient to neglect. Studies have identified them as air-purifying plants that remove toxins at night.
Adapts to low light corners or bright indirect light. Suitable for various rooms in your apartment.
Water every 2-3 weeks, allowing soil to dry completely between waterings. Reduce to monthly in winter.
Slow but steady grower. Produces new shoots (pups) from the base. Can reach 3-4 feet tall over several years.
Beginner-friendly. Tolerates neglect well. Suitable for frequent travelers.
Epipremnum aureum
Native to the tropical forests of French Polynesia, pothos is a popular houseplant. Its trailing vines can grow several feet per year, and it propagates easily in water. The variegated golden leaves add color to spaces while helping filter indoor air.
Adapts to low through bright indirect light. More light produces more pronounced golden variegation in leaves. Tolerates fluorescent office lighting.
Water when soil surface feels dry to touch. Leaves will droop slightly when thirsty, then perk up within hours after watering - a clear signal.
Vines can grow 12-18 inches per month in suitable conditions. Trim to maintain desired length and shape. Cuttings root easily in water for propagation.
Easy care. Tolerates irregular watering and varying light conditions. Suitable for beginners or busy professionals.
